Abstract: Bulgarian and Turkish national literature have their own unique historical development. Despite drawing from disparate sources and experiencing different foreign influences, the two literatures offer opportunities for comparative research. The absence of sufficient comparative studies which promises to provide us with interesting results is one of the blank spaces in the field of academic pursuits of Bulgarian-Turkish literary relations. This text sets itself the modest task of juxtaposing two authors of modern Bulgarian and Turkish literature: Viktor Paskov and Kemal Demirel. Additionally, it will point out some of the similarities and differences in the two writers’  two most famous works:  the novels The Ballad of Georg Henich and The People of Our Home, which appeared in the mid-1980s.
