Abstract: The article is dedicated to the intertextual connections between Seagull famous comedy and Ch. Perrault’s Cinderella. Chehov uses the famous foreign work to shape his characters’ behaviour who are presented in two aspects. The first aspect is connected with revealing the character’s nature directly from the comedy plot. The second one is connected with the literature work itself – it must be discovered as it bears implicit, concealed nature.
