Abstract: The article deals with the issues of contemporary Czech fairytale novel and its sources not only from 90s of the 20th century, but older – especially the literary works of the interwar period. The second part of the article is devoted to the work of the Czech poet and also the experienced creator of poetry and prose for children Pavel Šrut, who created the popular fairytale trilogy The Oddsockeaters (2008), The Oddsockeaters come back (2010) and The Oddsockeaters for ever (2013).
