Abstract: The object of study in the paper is Gregory Tsamblak’s second homily Homily Of The Deceased. The focus is on the social life at the time, and the way in which he presents and discusses the social stratification and diversity in this sermon, which is directed to the public. Analysing Homily Of The Deceased, we can clearly see how Tsamblak describes the social structure of Orthodox medieval society. Thanks to this, the reader gets a detailed picture of the habits of life, the methods of using a number of tools( work instruments) and war times. The reader can also gain an insight into the everyday life of the army, as one of the dominant factors of the state in the Middle Ages.
