Abstract: The following article is dedicated to the work of Otokar Březina – the most significant poet of the Czech symbolism in the 1890s. It focuses on poet’s philosophical and esthetic approach and his lyrical orientation towards the metaphysical problematics of the inner universe. Otokar Březina is not interested in everyday-life problems. He concentrates his creative attention on the existential problems of Creation, the existence and the obstacles that the soul encounters on its way to the Absolute. Through his literary work the poet tries to identify the primal forces of creation and reach the primordial stage.
