Abstract: Igor Stravinsky takes а unique historical plасе in the 20th-century music art. During the 40-s, when his second book, Poetics of Music, was published, he was undeniably оnе of the “fashion creators” in contemporary music. The excerption from his book shows the composer’s view on two art trends “modernism” and “academism”, as well as his attempt to comment in this context оn the opinion of musical critics about his own work.
