Abstract: The present paper is an artistic portrait of the Slovak director, translator and scholar who studied Russian drama – professor Ľubomír Vajdička. Emphasizing the unique character of his topological conception, the author of the article is trying to outline Vajdička’s directorial approach to A. P. Chekhov’s drama. The way Vajdička organizes Chekhov’s space on the stage is a result of a multifaceted interpretational process: not only does he direct the plays, but also translates the texts and analyzes them in his publications.
